Prajmia Gopalakrishna, her father and mother, contacted Kerala.com Travel Division of Worldviewer Dot Com India Pvt Ltd, Cochin, Kerala. They wanted to enjoy and explore the beauty of Kerala. With five days in her hands Prajmia wanted to escape into the chilly Munnar so as to escape from the scorching heat of Goa. She also wanted to have a little shopping spree in Kochi. A wise decision made, she approached the Kerala.com Travel division to plan for her trip within her budget. The Tour Consultant of Kerala.com Travel Division, Mr. Anito, charted a suitable trip plan, keeping in mind all the required elements.

(The travelogue as told by Mr. Anil Kumar, who has been a part Kerala.com Travel Division, Cochin for the past 12 years.)

DAY 1 (3rd May): KOCHI – MUNNAR

The guests reached the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station at 10:00 am, from where I picked them up and went off to Munnar. We travelled in my Toyota Etios car.
We travelled via Muvattupuzha – Kothamangalam – Neriamangalam – Adimali.

On the way we made a stop at the Cheeyappara Waterfalls, which comes between Neriamangalam and Adimali. This waterfall is unique as it cascades down in seven steps. But unfortunately the water at the falls was less due to the rising summer heat. Even at the Valara Waterfalls, which is just a kilometer away from Cheeyappara, a shortage of water was seen.

We stopped at Adimali for a cup of tea. After half an hour we continued our journey towards Munnar. At around 5:30 pm we reached our destination. The family stayed at the Aarons Cottage at Ikka Nagar in Munnar.

Before going to have dinner the guests took a stroll along the streets of Munnar. These streets were very crowded owing to the summer vacation rush. The climate was cool and pleasant, which was a welcoming change from the heat. At a walk able distance from the Aaron’s Cottage is the Gurubhavan Hotel. It was here that the guests had a wonderful dinner.

The guests went back to their room after that for a good night’s rest.

DAY 2 (4th May): SIGHTSEEING AT MUNNAR

After having breakfast we started off to the Eravikulam National Park, the home to the endangered Nilgiri Thar. Here too it was crowded. I parked my vehicle in the parking area and the guests went on to take the entry ticket. From there on the guests were taken in a safari bus to see the National Park. They spend around 2 hours there and came back.

A visit to the Tea Museum is an integral part of a trip to Munnar. The guests were taken to the Tea Museum to have this experience. At the Tea Museum the guests came across many rare artefacts, photographs and machineries depicting the prosperity and history of the tea industry. The guests also had a taste of the processed tea at the museum’s demonstration room.

In the evening, the guests were taken to the Munnar Flower Show that took place at the Munnar Hydel Park. This was an unexpected programme of the tour itinerary. There we could see many beautiful and different varieties of flowers.

After returning back to the resort, the guests had their dinner and went off to sleep.

DAY 3 (5th May): AROUND MUNNAR

On day three of our Munnar visit, we went to the Rose Garden and saw different varieties of roses. From there we went on to the Honeybee Tree which lies on the way to Mattupetty Dam. This tree is unique for being the home to millions of Honeybees.

We went on to the Mattupetty Dam, where the guests opted to enjoy boating. On the way back from Mattupetty, we visited the Echo Point and the Kundala Dam. After reaching Munnar, the guests had a traditional and scrumptious lunch.

After lunch I took the guests to the Chocolate Factory near Anachal. Being a chocolate lover, Miss Prajmia enjoyed many varieties of chocolates. The journey to Anachal was a mesmerizing one as the scenic views of various tea plantations brought in the beauty of Munnar. We could also see many Resorts and Homestays on the way.

We then visited the Kasavalayam and witnessed the traditional weaving techniques of Kerala Sarees. We then returned back to the cottage.

DAY 4 (6th May) RETURN TO KOCHI

Filled with heart full of memories of Munnar, the guests bid goodbye to Munnar and we returned back to Kochi. On the way back, we dropped by at Poothotta and the guests enjoyed a calm day in the backwaters there. Through this wonderful experience of boating the guests could view and enjoy the village life of the rural Kerala. By afternoon we reached Kochi and the guests were dropped off at Castle Rock Hotel, opposite Malayala Manorama. They had dinner at a city hotel.

DAY 5 (7th May) SHOPPING AT KOCHI

In the morning the guests were taken to M.G. Road, Ernakulam for some shopping. They were also taken to the Central Mall.

They were then dropped off at the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station by noon. They boarded the Mangala Express and returned back to Goa.
