(Travelogue as told by Mr. Justin Sebastian)
DAY 1 (19th August): KOCHI SIGHTSEEING
I picked up the guests from the Cochin International Airport and moved on to the city of Kochi. On the way, as per the request of the guests I made a stop at a South Indian Food Restaurant for the breakfast. After this, we went on to Hotel Grand Seasons at Chittor Road, Ernakulam, Kerala, where the guests were to stay. I had told the guests to meet me after 2 hours of rest for sightseeing.
Just as said I met the guests by 3:00pm and they started their sightseeing trip in the Tempo Traveller. We went directly to Mattancherry. Once there we visited the attractions of Mattancherry Palace and Jew Street. Being a Saturday, the Jewish Synagogue was closed. After a little sightseeing there, we went on to Fort Kochi.
On the way we saw a marriage function happening at the St. Basilica Church, Fort Kochi. I parked the Tempo at the parking lot and all of us proceeded on to the beach. As it was the monsoon season, the sea was very rough and tough. We stood there for some time enjoying the thundering sea. Then we moved on to the Chinese Fishing Net Point from where I pointed and showed the St. Francis Church, the final resting place of the explorer Vasco Da Gama.
By then it started drizzling and hence the guests were taken back to the hotel. While going they saw the Chinese Fishing Nets and the Church sitting inside the Tempo. We called off the day, promising to meet the guests next day by 9 am.
DAY 2 (20th August): KOCHI – MUNNAR
As said I met the guests by 9 in the morning in the reception. We started our trip to Munnar. The destination being a hill area, I gave the guests certain guidelines to keep in mind. Soon we reached the famous Cheeyappara Waterfalls. The water from the falls cascaded down the hill in a great force, owing to the monsoons, making it a very beautiful sight to see. We moved on to the Valara Waterfalls, which is just a kilometer away. But as we reached there it started to rain. I suggested the guests to take a coffee break and see the waterfall if the rain stops. And just as I suggested the rain stopped and the guests could enjoy the waterfalls. They took many pictures as well.
The rain increased as we moved on to Munnar and so we straightly went to the Misty Lake Resort for the guest’s check in. We came across the Chengulam Dam of Munnar.
DAY 3 (21st August): MUNNAR SIGHTSEEING
After Breakfast, I picked the guests and proceeded on for a sightseeing trip of the hill station of Munnar. I took them to the attractions of Eravikulam National Park, Karadipara Viewpoint, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala Dam, Tea Garden and so on.
The guests got to see the endangered species of Nilgiri Thar at the Eravikulam National Park and a family of Wild Elephants on the route from Mattupetty Dam to Echo point. All this made their trip an unforgettable one. After the sightseeing we went back to the resort for the night’s stay.
DAY 4 (22nd August): MUNNAR – THEKKADY
After breakfast we moved on to our next destination of Thekkady. We reached there after almost an hour. I took them to Thekkady’s famous location of Periyar Tiger Reserve. I dropped them at the parking lot as from there on into the jungle only the vehicles of the government are allowed. They were taken on in the special bus for the Jungle Safari.
On their return they were taken on to have the experience of Kerala Culture with Kathakali and Kalaripayattu performances. After enjoying the dance, they were taken to Coffee Routes Resort for their check - in.
DAY 5 (23rd August): THEKKADY – KOVALAM
In the morning, I took them to Kovalam from Thekkady. On the way we came across many Rubber plantations as well as Pineapple Farms. This resort is located near the beach and making the use of this chance the guests in the evening went to the beach and watched the sunset.
DAY 6 (24th August): KOVALAM – KANYAKUMARI
We proceeded on to Kanyakumari after breakfast. At Kanyakumari we visited the attractions of Vivekananda Rock, Triveni Sangam, Sunset Point and so on. After watching the sunset at the sunset point we started our journey back and by night we reached back to the resort at Kovalam by night.
